The assembly instructions for the Sanaë dress and the pictures appear here as a supplement to the booklet. Prepare the fabric and the pieces by following the steps 1 and 2 in the booklet.

step 3

Sew the drawstrings and back ties.

step 4

Fold the inner edge of the pocket facing inwards at 1cm (0.4”). Pin it to the pocket bag, wrong side to right side, aligning the edges. Topstich at 1mm along the inner edge and finish the outer edge.

step 5

step 5.1

Place the front facing on the front piece, right sides together. Pin along the V-neckline and stitch at 1cm. Make a small snip at the point. Get as close as possible to the first stitch without cutting it.

Then, press the bottom edge of the front facing to the wrong side at 1cm. Topstitch at 1mm. Trim the excess fabric.

Open on both sides of the neckline. Press the seam allowance towards the front facing.

step 5.2

Do the same for the back pieces. Pin along the V-neckline, starting at the V-point to place the back ties 1cm from the shoulder lines.

step 5.3

Now gather the shoulder lines of the front and back pieces to 6cm on either side of the neckline. Stitch on the right side at 8mm to maintain the gathers. Don’t forget to press the seam allowance towards the facing piece while stitching.

step 5.4

Sew the shoulder seams to attach the front and back pieces. Match the shoulder lines and the neckline seams. Pin, right sides together, and stitch at 1cm. Press seam allowances open.

step 5.5

Sew the armhole seams with the pieces placed right sides together. Then turn right side out.

steps 5.6 & 5.7

Topstitch at 1mm along the neckline of the front and back pieces. Then topstitch at 1mm along the armholes: start and end the seamline 1cm from the ends.
Finish the edges of the front and back pieces and facings.

step 5.8

Pin the front and back pieces together, and the facing pieces together, along the side edges, matching up the notches.
Sew starting at the armhole and stop the seamline exactly at the first notch. Then continue stitching from the second notch to the third notch, and continue from the fourth notch to the bottom edge of the piece.

step 6

step 6.1

Pin the set EF1 on the back piece, right sides together, along the edge, matching up the pocket opening notches. Stitch at 1cm starting at the pocket opening notch and stop the seam line exactly at the pocket closure notch.

Pin the set EF2 on the front piece, right sides together, along the edge, matching up the pocket opening notches. Stitch at 1cm starting at the pocket opening notch and stop the seam line exactly at the pocket closure notch.

step 6.2

Topstitch on the right side of the facings at 1mm along the lines of the pocket openings.
Then stay stitch at the pocket closure on the right side to secure.

step 6.3

Set the pocket bags in place. Remove the excess fabric and pin. Stitch at 1,5cm along the curve and bottom edges, and at 1cm along the side edge. Finish the raw edge. Be careful, the seam allowances must remain open.

step 7

Set the front piece and the front facing in place. Fold the excess fabric at the ends inwards to form neat edges. Pin wrong sides together.
Topstitch along the curved edge at 1mm (directly on the previously stitched seamline at step 5.1), and then at 1cm.

Do the same for the back piece and the back facing. The seam line here is straight. Put on the drawstrings and adjust the waist by tying them on both sides.

step 8

Fold the bottom edge 1cm to the wrong side. Make a second tuck-in at 1.5cm. Topstitch at 1mm.
