The assembly instructions for the Alma coat and the pictures appear here as a supplement to the booklet. Out coat was made with a light brown wool cashmere blend.

Prepare the fabric and the pieces by following the steps 1, 2 and 3 in the booklet.

Step 4

Place the two pieces of the front right sides together. Pin and stitch at 1cm. Press the seam allowance open. Topstitch on the right side on either side of the seamline at 8mm. Do the same for the back pieces.

Step 5 - side pockets sewing

Step 5.1

Fold each welt pocket in half, right sides together and length-wise. Press. Pin them to the corresponding pocket bags. Stitch at 1cm and stop the seamline at 1cm from the bottom edge. Now take the other welt pockets and finish two consecutive sides. Pin them to the corresponding pocket bags wrong side to right side, aligning the top edges as shown below. Stitch along the sides at 5mm.

Make two pairs.

Step 5.2

Take the right front and the corresponding pair. Place the first set on the front right sides together, along the line spotted by the two notches, with the top edge at 1cm from the first notch.  Stitch directly on the seamline (the one made in step 5.1) starting 1cm after the top edge.

Then take the second set. Draw a line on the wrong side of the pocket 1cm from the edge. The length of this line should be the same as the seamline stitched on the first set.
Place the set parallel to the first set with the top edge 1cm from the first notch. The space between them corresponds to the width of the welt pocket caught in the seam. Pin and stitch directly on the line.

Do the same for the left front and the remaining pair.

Step 5.3

Draw a line down the center between the two seamlines on the right front. This line must be 1,5cm shorter than the stitchings from either end. Cut along this line with sharp little scissors and join the ends of the seams in diagonals as close as possible to the first stitch.

Then push the welt and bag pockets and the little triangles towards the wrong side. Set them in place and press.Make a small snip on the wrong side of the pocket lining at the corner. Get as close as possible to the first stitch without cutting it.
Turn the lower part to the right side, folding the top edge to the wrong side to make a clean edge and a right angle, and extend it under the second set.

Step 5.4

Pin the small sides of the welt pocket along with the little triangles on the wrong side. Then stitch as close as possible to the base of the triangles through all layers except the front coat itself.Topstitch on the right side at 8mm along the edge opposite the pocket opening. Make sure not to sew the second set.
Then overlap the two pocket bags to the middle front and topstitch along the three remaining sides at 8mm.

Step 5.5

Trim the excess fabric of the pocket bags, pin and stitch at 1cm.

Step 6 - front and back sewing

Place the front and back pieces right sides together and sew the shoulder and side seams. Press the shoulder seam allowances towards the back piece and topstitch at 8mm.

Step 7 - attaching the lapels

Now place the lapels on top of the front-back unit, right sides together. Pin and stitch the entire way along that edge, by starting the seam at the notch and con-tinue the seamline at the bottom of the lapel, parallelly with the bottom edge and stopping it at 1cm from the opposite edge.

Trim the corners diagonally to prevent bulk.
